Cedar View

Re-modelling & 100% extension

Cedar View started life as a 1.5 storey 4-bedroom Dormer Bungalow in a spacious plot on the edge of beautiful farmland. What we see today is a (near completed) 2.5 storey 5-6 bedroom Bespoke dwelling with a new floor area of over 400m2.

Cedar cladding and Silicone render was used to the Monopitch wing, initially to conceal the tired brickwork, whilst the extension used a traditional red brick first storey, with a Monolithic black steel-clad cantilevered second storey.

Planning was passed for the initial designs in an unbelievable 8-week process with only minor negotiations. This is particularly impressive when considering the 100% volume increase to over 1000 cubic metres volume, alongside open rural fields.

To the rear, Cedar View uses huge steel framed windows to create two storey vistas to the northeast of the site.

Cedar View was designed and completed under the guidance of Smytheman Architectural, where once again, Bruce Johnson worked alongside DYSE Structural Engineers to facilitate another self-build clients dream.
