Zinc House

New Build

Zinc House is a 5-bedroom family home tucked away behind 18 protected Scots Pine trees.

This 300m2 contemporary house combines warm traditional features and home-like materials such as buff brick, masonry band courses and Staffordshire blue clay tiles with complete contrast shear elevations of modern blue zinc-clad walls and roof with flashes of golden Siberian Larch in a contemporary paradox.

Secret gutters and concealed downpipes are used to provide clean lines externally. A floating treat steel spine staircase runs through the centre of the building. To the rear a steel frame holds up the corner of the house providing panoramic views out.

Zinc House was designed and completed under the guidance of Smytheman Architectural with special thanks to Director; Trevor Mountford.

Bruce Johnson worked alongside DYSE Structural Engineers and C2C Consulting Engineers to see this project through from a green 1500m2 garden to the imposing, yet balanced family home that we see today.
